My First Thoughts of Troop 61.

Let me give you my very first thoughts of Troop 61. It was September 1961 and they were having one of the first ...if not the first awards ceremony at Pine Woods. I was invited to it as I was going to join that night and by the end of the night I was....
It was a perfect late summer night...
The area was well prepared with flags and tables all lined with badges and awards...
I was more than impressed I was in awe....
The meeting started with the entrance of the flags and placing them in the stands.
Speeches were made...some by the scouts. Cheers were made...songs were song...all the boys looked so happy and comfortable to be there...
Toward the end ...the new scout class was called up...FROM that second till today I am 100% a Proud Troop 61 member...thru and thru...
I had goosebumps as I was assigned to the THUNDERBIRDS...
I could not wait...for my first meeting...IN FULL GEAR... As we never, ever, went to
any scout function out of gear.
I laid in bed that night...staring at the ceiling ...dreaming of the great things to come...and in reality I had no clue...it was a million miles better and more life changing and valuable to my future success than I would ever imagine.
