"Our Scouting Is Never Done."

Leaving a Legacy.

The last line of the chorus from the Troop Rouser goes; "Our Scouting is never done" that means that you are always a Scout, not only when you are wearing your uniform, but also when not.  Your Scouting background and values carries over even when you leave Scouts.  861 Scouts continue to live the Scout Oath and Law throughout their lives, and many give back to Scouting.

Here are some 861 Scouts that are Leaving an 861 Legacy for years to come:

Steven Connell

For many years, Steve Connell was involved with Troop 861 on many levels.  He served various positions on the troop committee.  He was a merit badge counselor and life guard.  During the 1990's, Steve was the Scoutmaster of Troop 861.  While no longer actively involved in Scouting, Steve has allowed the troop to camp on his property in the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest on several occasions.

Robert Dorsey (1984-1991)

Though no longer involved in Scouting, after aging out of Troop 861, Robert was on staff at Philmont Scout Ranch and at Camp Rokilio.  He earned his Wood Badge Beads during that time as well.

Tom Ehernreich

Tom has been involved in Scouting as an Assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 890 of Sheboygan.

Tom Gorges

Tom was involved in Troop 861 in the late 2000's and served as a merit badge counselor.  He has been the guest speaker at several Courts of Honor as well.

Rob Imig (1987-1994)

Since leaving Troop 861, Rob has been busy with his career in New York City, however not busy enough to keep him away from Scouting.  He has served on the board of the Greater Manhattan Council since 2008.

David Jackson (1985-1992)

In former Scoutmaster Steve Connell's comments to Dave at his Eagle Scout Court of Honor in February of 1992, Mr. Connell stated that Dave would make a good Scout leader someday.  Today, Dave is on the troop committee of Troop 861.  Having an 861 Alum on the troop committee is a huge asset to the operations of the troop.

Eric Johnson (1985-1992)

Eric has been involved in Scouting essentially since aging out.  He has served in a variety of Scouting roles all over (where ever his career in the US Navy took him).  Eric has served on the staff of National Youth Leadership Training as well as Wood Badge.  Currently he is an Assistant Scoutmaster of a troop in the San Diego area.

Adam Lorenz

Adam is currently an Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 861.

Lance Milsted

After aging out of Troop 861, Lance joined the US Army, he continued to be involved in Scouting during this time while stationed in Colorado, Maryland, and Germany.   Lance is currently the Scoutmaster of Troop 154 of the Transatlantic Council in Stuttgart, Germany.  Previously he was an Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 1, the oldest BSA troop in Europe.  He recently finished his Wood Badge Ticket and was awarded his beads at the 2014 Spring Camporee at Normandy Beach.  He has also staffed Introduction to Outdoor Leaders Skills training.

Roger Ponath

Roger Ponath served on the troop committee for several years.  He was the Cubmaster of Pack 3857.  After Steve Connell's retirement as Scoutmaster, Roger stepped into the role.  He also served as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the troop and was on the district's training team.

Mark Safranski

Mark served many years on the troop committee, upon Louis Milsted's retirement as Scoutmaster in 1987, Mark took over the reigns.  Mark's enthusiasm for Scouting was one of his greatest qualities as a Scout leader.  Prior to being Scoutmaster of Troop 861, he was involved as a leader in the Cub Scout program.  Mark is once again involved in Cub Scouting with his young son.

Rick Seidemann (1985-1992)

After turning 18, Rick continued Scouting in Troop 861 as an Assistant Scoutmaster.  He continued his relationship with Troop 861 off and on in the early 1990's and early 2000's.  In 2008 he became Scoutmaster and served in that role until the spring of 2010.  In early 2013, he once again became the Scoutmaster of Troop 861.  Rick is on the Lakeshore District Training Team and is a counselor for several merit badges.

Rob Seidemann (1986-1993)

Rob has brought the skills he learned in Troop 861, to the troop committee and as Scoutmaster of Troop 859, in the late 1990's and early 2000's.  He now is on the troop committee for Potowatomi Area Council's Troop 115 in Germantown, WI.  He plans to become an Assistant Scoutmaster.

Kevin Telschow

For several years Kevin was a part of the troop committee.
