The Jess Bickel Spirit Scout Award.
The Spirit Scout Award was established in 1980, an is awarded to the Scout of 861 that best exemplifies the Scout Oath and Scout Law for the past year. It is awarded at the Spring Court of Honor. The award was first named after Jack Meyer, a longtime Troop 861 Scouter in the early years of the troop. In 2015, the award was renamed in honor of Troop 861 Eagle Scout Jess Bickel.
Jess Bickel was Troop 861's first Senior Patrol Leader, Bugler, Scout Lifeguard, Order of the Arrow member, and Eagle Scout.
