Camporees.
This page will contain patches from the camporees that Troop 861 has attended throughout the years. Camporees have been a place for Scout Troops to gather in fellowship, to learn new skills, to gain leadership skills, and to show off their skills through demonstrations and competitions. Not long after Troop 861 got it's start were the Scouts of 61 competing in a Camporee, former Scout Rolf Enger recounts that experience; "With roughly two months of scouting behind us, we entered the District Camporee. With borrowed tents, relatively new camping equipment, and the "Spirit of 61" we entered our one Crow Patrol and took on the seasoned veterans of the District. Pooling our talents, quickly reading the Sccout Handbook between testing stations, and, at times, competing in events with virtually no prior experience, we managed to finish 7th in the District, surpassing plenty of patrols with far greater experience. The stage was set...." And so it was, Troop 861 would prove to be one of the best Troop's in the area, continually finishing with top rankings. One Camporee in 1990, the 61 patrols took 1st place through 4th place!
